We compute a one-way hash of your file to compare against our records. The PDF is never stored. We never expose vehicle, owner, or contents — only whether the document was issued by Mekavo and when.

How it works

A workshop logs the service

When a real workshop on Mekavo finishes a job, they sign and stamp the record on the customer's phone. Photos, GPS, mechanic identity — all sealed at the moment.

The chain stays tamper-evident

Every entry is hash-bound to the previous one. No edit goes unnoticed. No silent change is possible.

Buyers can verify

Type a VIN or license plate on this page. If a record exists, we tell you. If the owner published it, you can read it in full. If they did not, you can ask them.

How we protect privacy

A search shows that a Mekavo record exists for a VIN or licence plate — and how many entries it has, and what tier they are. It does not expose the owner's name, contact, address, or what work was done. None of that is visible without explicit owner consent.

Drivers control their visibility from their own dashboard. They can hide the record from public lookup entirely, allow lookup to confirm existence only, or publish the full record for any buyer to read. Most drivers leave it on the middle setting — that is what this page assumes.

Common questions

Is searching free?
Yes. No account, no payment. Search any VIN or plate as many times as you like. We rate-limit at the IP level to prevent automated scraping, but a normal person checking a few cars will never hit it.
What does Mekavo show me?
By default, only that a record exists for that VIN or plate, how many entries it has, and the breakdown by verification tier. No personal data, no work descriptions, no costs, no addresses. The full record is visible only when the owner has explicitly published it, or when they approve a request from you.
How do I request the full record?
Coming soon. The next release will let you send a verified request to the owner. You give your name, role (buyer / insurer / dealer / family / workshop) and reason. The owner gets a notification and can approve, decline, or block. If approved you receive a 14-day single-use link.
Is this Carfax / HPI / Carjam?
Different. Free. No paywall. Multi-country. Independent workshops can verify, not just dealerships. Drivers control sharing rather than the platform. Tamper-evident chain on every entry. We are the only free, driver-owned vehicle history we know of.
