Canada's rules depend on where you are. British Columbia runs a provincial short-term rental registry, and in communities of 10,000 people or more you may rent only your principal residence plus one suite; in Toronto you register with the city, rent only your principal residence, and an entire home is limited to 180 nights a calendar year; in Quebec, a CITQ number must appear on every listing. Mekavo Stay keeps your number on the place, where it can show on your page, and counts every booked night across all your calendars against the limit you set.
Mekavo is the software, not the authority. Registries are run by the provinces (BC's Short-Term Rental Branch, Quebec's CITQ) and by cities such as Toronto; GST/HST and municipal accommodation taxes follow federal, provincial and city rules. Condo declarations and strata bylaws can ban short-term rentals whatever your registration says.
Mekavo earns from the tools other businesses pay for. Stay is free for hosts — every feature, every place, your whole team. If that ever changes, we will tell you well ahead of time.
