Know who is at your door

🏢 For businesses whose people meet strangers

Hosts meeting guests, agents showing a flat, tradespeople, carers and cleaners going into homes: each person on your team uses Mekavo Angel on their own phone. The person at the door scans their code, and both see who the other is before the door opens.

Meeting someone in the UK — before the door, and if it goes wrong

Mekavo Angel is for the minute before you open the door or sit down. They scan the code on your phone; you see their name, a phone number proven by one WhatsApp message and a live photo, and they see yours. In the year to September 2025, 10,393 reports to the UK's national fraud service were dating scams. A phone someone can prove and a face that was really there are hard things for a fake profile to give.

Does the other person need the Mekavo app?

No. They scan your code with their phone camera and answer in their browser: their name, one WhatsApp message to prove their phone, and a live photo — or they say no to the photo and you see that. Nothing is required of them; what you do with what you see is your decision.

Is anyone's face compared with a database?

No. The live photo is shown only to the two of you. Mekavo does not compare faces with anything, does not check anyone's background, and cannot promise that anyone is safe.

How long is it kept, and who can see it?

Each of you keeps a private copy for 30 days, then it is deleted — unless one of you reports that something happened; then it is kept for the police. Either of you can send a read-only copy to someone you trust from your own WhatsApp. Mekavo is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Mekavo is software, not the police. In an emergency, call 999 (or 112). If you cannot speak on a mobile, call 999, cough or tap if you can, and press 55 when the recorded message asks — it tells the police the call is real, but it does not send your location. For anything that is not an emergency, call 101. Report a dating or romance scam to Report Fraud (reportfraud.police.uk, 0300 123 2040) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or to Police Scotland on 101.
