Know who is at your door

🏢 For businesses whose people meet strangers

Hosts meeting guests, agents showing a flat, tradespeople, carers and cleaners going into homes: each person on your team uses Mekavo Angel on their own phone. The person at the door scans their code, and both see who the other is before the door opens.

Meeting someone in New Zealand — before the door, and before the money

NZ Police estimate that New Zealanders lose tens of millions of dollars a year to romance scams, and money sent overseas is rarely recovered. Someone running a scam can build a whole online life, but struggles to stand at your door with a phone they can prove and a face that is really theirs. With Mekavo Angel they scan your code before you open: you see their name, a phone proven by one WhatsApp message and a live photo, and they see yours.

Someone I met online keeps asking for money. Can Mekavo check them?

Mekavo does not check anyone's background. What it can do is ask them, before you meet, for a phone they can prove and a live photo. Someone who never intends to meet you rarely gives either.

Does it record where I am?

No. A handshake keeps the two names, the proven phones and the live photos — not your location — for 30 days, unless one of you reports that something happened.

Can my team use it on home visits?

Yes. Hosts, property managers, tradespeople and support workers use it at the door, each person on their own phone and account, free.

Mekavo is software, not the Police. In an emergency, call 111. For anything that is not an emergency, call 105 or report it online through 105. Netsafe helps with online scams and harm — text "Netsafe" to 4282 or call 0508 638 723; a report to Netsafe is not a report to the Police.
