Mekavo Stay — the rules for hosts and guests
Short and plain. These rules add to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Terms of Service · Privacy Policy
What Mekavo Stay is
- Software for hosts: a booking page, a calendar linked with other sites, guest messages and the host's own records.
- Mekavo is not a party to any stay. We do not own, inspect for safety or manage the places, we do not set prices, and we do not accept bookings for a host.
- Mekavo never holds a guest's money and takes no commission on bookings.
If you are a host
- You follow the rules where your place is: licences or registration numbers, night limits, building and owners' rules, safety, taxes including any tourist tax, and reporting guests to the authorities where the law asks.
- You describe your place honestly: real photos of that place, the right number of guests, beds and bathrooms, and every price and fee shown before the guest pays.
- You answer requests, keep to the bookings you accept, and keep guests' details only for their stay and for as long as the law requires.
- You only invite people to your team who need to be there, and give each one only the job they do.
If you are a guest
- Sending a request is not a booking. The stay is booked only when the host accepts it.
- Your stay is agreed between you and the host. The host's house rules, deposit and cancellation rule apply, and are shown before you pay.
- For a private home, the full address is shared once the host accepts your booking.
- Treat the place with care and leave it as you found it.
Money
- Guests pay the host directly — in cash, by bank transfer, or online into the host's own Stripe, Wompi or Mercado Pago account where it is offered. Online payments follow that provider's own terms.
- Refunds are made by the host, under the host's own rule. Mekavo cannot move a host's money.
- Mekavo Stay is free for hosts for now. If that ever changes, we will tell you well ahead of time.
What the ticks mean
- "Checked on the spot", "Filmed here" and "Your Google listing" each show that a check was passed on a date. They are not a guarantee of a place, a host or a stay.
- The on-the-spot check and the filming fade after a year unless the host renews them.
- Reviews are left on the host's own Google listing, under Google's rules.
Not allowed
- Listing a place you have no right to let, or photos and words that are not true of it.
- Refusing or treating a guest differently for who they are.
- Spam, fake requests or abuse through a booking page or its request form.
- We may switch off a page or an account that breaks these rules or the law.
Your details
- A guest's name, phone number, dates and message go to the host they asked. In the host's team, each person sees only what their job needs — a cleaner never sees guests' phone numbers or money.
- We never sell anyone's details. Our Privacy Policy says what we keep and for how long.
Problems
- About a stay: talk to the host first — their WhatsApp is on their page and in your booking.
- To report a page that breaks these rules, write to [email protected] with the page's address.
