Americans reported losing hundreds of millions of dollars to romance scams in 2024, according to the Federal Trade Commission, and many of those people never met the person they were writing to. Mekavo Angel is built for the moment that a fake profile avoids: the door. Before you open it, they scan your code and you see a name, a phone proven by one WhatsApp message and a live photo — and they see yours. If something does not add up, you know on the doorstep, not afterwards.
Do they need to download anything?
No. They point their phone camera at your code and answer in the browser: a name, one WhatsApp message to prove the phone, and a live photo — or they decline the photo and you see that. You decide what happens next.
Is this a background check?
No. Mekavo does not run background checks, does not compare faces with any database and cannot promise that anyone is safe. It shows you who is at the door, as they choose to prove it.
Can a short-term rental host or a home-services company use it?
Yes. Hosts, real estate agents, home-services technicians and caregivers use it at the door, each person on their own phone and account, free. Each record is kept for 30 days unless one of the two reports a problem.
