In Ghana, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has registered short-term rentals since November 2024: you get a six-month provisional licence, renewed once your police clearance, fire report, environmental health report and proof of ownership are in. A host with four or more listings registers as a business; others use their Ghana Card. The Tourism Levy is charged to the guest, collected by you and paid to the GTA every month. Mekavo Stay keeps your GTA licence number on the place, where your page can show it, and puts the levy on its own line of the guest's receipt.
Mekavo is software, not a regulator. The licence and the Tourism Levy are the GTA's under the Tourism Act 2011 (Act 817). Licensed accommodation keeps a guest register on the premises for at least five years and hands guest registration cards to the GTA on written request.
Mekavo earns from the tools other businesses pay for. Stay is free for hosts — every feature, every place, your whole team. If that ever changes, we will tell you well ahead of time.
Guests pay you directly — cash, bank transfer or the payment apps people use where you are. Mekavo takes nothing.
