In Guyana, the Tourism Accommodation Establishments Regulations of 2008 cover hotels, apartments, guest houses and inns. You apply to the Guyana Tourism Authority on its licensing portal, with reports or certificates from the EPA, environmental health, the fire service, CH&PA or your local authority, the NIS and the GRA; the place is inspected, you get 40 days to fix anything found, and then pay the licence fee. Guests show identification and go in a register — name, address, nationality, arrival and departure dates, room rate — and occupancy goes to the GTA every month. Mekavo Stay keeps every stay with those dates and rates, ready for the monthly report.
Mekavo is software, not a regulator. Licensing is the Guyana Tourism Authority's, at license.guyanatourism.com; the register and the monthly occupancy report are yours. Rates, taxes and service charges must be displayed, and a responsible person must be on call 24 hours a day.
