In Jordan, a home that hosts paying guests is a guest house (بيت ضيافة), licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities under the Guest House Instructions of 2019. The licence runs for a calendar year, one guest house per host, with one to three bedrooms; it can be a farm, a house, or a flat in a shared building, where bedrooms may not exceed half the flat. In Amman, the governorate centres and Petra, a guest house may be let for at most 90 days a year, and the host must live there. Guests' names, dates and ID copies go in a register given to the security authorities on arrival. Mekavo Stay counts your nights and keeps every stay's guests.
Mekavo is software, not a regulator. The licence is the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities'; the guest register and its submission to the security authorities are yours. If you rent the property, you need the owner's written no-objection. A door sign of at most 15 × 5 cm and prices posted inside are required. Check the Ministry for any amendment to the 2019 Instructions.
