In Uganda, the Tourism Act 2008 says no one may run accommodation for paying tourists without a licence from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), and the Board lists serviced apartments, cottages, villas and homestays among the accommodation it licenses. In April 2026 the UTB told Airbnb hosts to register ahead of AFCON 2027, when Kampala expects many visitors. Mekavo Stay keeps your UTB licence number on the place, where your page can show it, and gives your guests their arrival information in their own language.
Mekavo is software, not a regulator. Licensing is the Uganda Tourism Board's under the Tourism Act 2008. Ask the UTB whether your home is in scope: its licensing officer has said a purely residential home is outside it.
