Why we built Mekavo Fleet — and why we built it for South African operators.

The story

Small fleets deserve the same software as the giants.

The big operators have in-house safety managers, compliance officers, and enterprise TMS budgets. We built Mekavo Fleet for everyone else — the 20-vehicle Johannesburg hauler, the 8-bakkie Cape Town contractor, the Durban courier, the minibus operator with a cross-border route, the municipal fleet. Fleets that run the N1 and the N3 every day without making anyone's shortlist for "fleet software".

We looked at what those fleets were doing day to day: paper pre-trips in the cab, WhatsApp photos of defects, a spreadsheet for driver PrDPs, a folder with Operating Licences and roadworthy certs. NLTA and AARTO compliance by willpower. One roadside inspection or provincial Operating Licence review from real trouble. We thought that was wrong.

So we built the platform that gives a 12-vehicle operator the same digital inspections, defect reports, compliance dashboards and driver-management tools a 1,200-vehicle operator uses. Same interface. Same rigour. Per-vehicle pricing so the maths always works, whatever the scale.
