Q: How much does Mekavo Parking cost the landowner?

We charge a flat 5% software fee, deducted from each paid session. There is no monthly subscription, no setup fee, no equipment to buy. Card-processing fees (around 1.5% plus 20p) come out of our 5%, not added on top of the driver's price.

Q: How quickly do I get paid?

Driver payments go directly to your bank account through our payment processor — Mekavo never holds your money. Settlement to your bank usually takes around 2 working days per payment, depending on your bank.

Q: Do I need to install cameras or special equipment?

No. The whole system runs on a printed A4 sign with a unique QR code. Drivers scan it with their phone, pay online with their card, and park. No cameras, no barriers, no kiosks, no apps to download.

Q: What if a driver can't scan the QR code?

Every Mekavo sign carries two ways to pay: scan the QR code, or go to mekavo.com/v and type the 5-digit site code printed on the sign — same payment page, no scanning needed. That covers older drivers, cameras that won't focus, and phones that do something odd with QR codes. It also lets a driver confirm the sign is genuine before paying: because the look-up runs on mekavo.com, a tampered or stuck-over QR can't send anyone somewhere they paid blindly.

Q: What happens if a driver parks without paying?

Mekavo is a payment-rails platform, not an enforcement company. We do not issue parking charge notices, clamp vehicles, or chase debt. Your sign creates a contract under UK law, and if you choose to pursue non-payment, that is between you and the driver. Our position is that the friction of enforcement usually costs more than it recovers — most landowners we work with focus on making payment easy and visible.

What about the legal right to charge for parking on my land?

When you sign up, you confirm in writing that you have the legal right to charge for parking at the address. You also accept the Mekavo Operator Terms, which make clear that Mekavo provides software and payment rails only — each parking site is operated independently by the landowner. You are responsible for signage, local-law compliance, and any disputes with drivers.

What does my sign need to say?

We give you a printable A4 PDF with your space name, your rates, the QR code, and clear scan-to-pay instructions in your local language. Under UK contract law, your sign needs to be visible at the entrance, the rates need to be clearly stated, and any maximum stay needs to be displayed. We give you the print-ready file — you install it.

Can I refund a driver?

Yes. From your dashboard you can refund any session in full or in part. The refund goes directly back to the driver's card via our payment processor. Refund policy is yours to set; we provide a sensible default to start.

What happens if a driver parks without paying?

Can I run more than one parking site?

Yes. You can add as many sites as you like under one Mekavo account, each with its own rates, schedule, and QR sign. Your dashboard shows revenue per site and across all sites.

Can I set different rates for evenings, weekends, or holidays?

Yes — you can set hourly rates, daily caps, opening hours, and a maximum stay per site. More advanced rate logic (off-peak, event-day overrides, parishioner free codes) is on the near-term roadmap.

Can I pause my site temporarily?

Yes. From your dashboard you can pause any site at any time — useful for events, repairs, or seasonal closures. Drivers who scan a paused site's QR see a clear "currently unavailable" message and are not charged.

Is there a contract or minimum term?

No. You accept the Operator Terms when you sign up; there's no minimum term and no contract to break. You can deactivate any site, or close your account, at any time.

What about GDPR and driver data?

Mekavo is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Card payment data is handled by a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor — never by Mekavo's own servers. The only data we keep on your dashboard is what you need to run the site: plate, payment status, session times. Drivers can request access to or deletion of their data at any time.
