Mekavo AI is explicitly forbidden from telling you to pressure your driver.

Most fleet AI products will recommend densifying your routes when a driver finishes early — even when the underlying reason is speeding. Some platforms sell that recommendation as their headline feature.

Mekavo's risk-aware AI is hard-coded to refuse it. When telemetry shows a speeding pattern, a fatigue alert, or aggressive driving, our system is structurally prevented from recommending more stops, route densification, or shift extensions — regardless of what the variance numbers superficially support.

What our AI will recommend instead:

  • Coaching, when a speeding pattern emerges.
  • Mandatory rest, when fatigue alerts fire.
  • Re-timing the plan at the planning stage, when stops consistently finish too early.
  • Recognising the driver, when a week is clean.

It will never pressure the driver, even when the manager wants it to. That's the positioning. We sell to operators who want a serious safety platform — not a way to extract more shifts.

What other fleet AI says What Mekavo's AI says
"Driver is 12 min ahead of schedule — consider adding 2-3 more stops." "Driver is 12 min ahead BUT had 4 speeding events this week. Do not add stops — coach him. Insurance review recommended."
Optimises for stops-per-shift. Optimises for safe completion and evidence integrity.
Pressures the driver to absorb the slack. Investigates whether the plan is the problem.

Everything your fleet needs

Built for the regulators NZ fleet operators actually deal with

A WorkSafe inspector after a vehicle incident, an NZTA Operator Rating Audit, a CoF inspection failure — they all want the same thing: a tamper-evident record of pre-trip checks, repairs, and driver actions. Mekavo seals each entry at the moment of capture.

NZTA
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency

Administers the Transport Operator Rating System, Certificate of Fitness regime, RUC (Road User Charges) for diesel vehicles, and roadside enforcement under the Land Transport Act 1998.

COF
Certificate of Fitness

Periodic roadworthiness test for transport service vehicles (heavy + passenger service). Issued at NZTA-approved inspection centres; failures are public on the operator's rating record.

TORS
Transport Operator Rating System

NZTA's rating of every commercial transport operator from 1 (lowest risk) to 5 (highest). Driven by COF outcomes, infringement history and audit findings. Insurers and brokers use TORS for premium calculation.

WorkSafe
WorkSafe New Zealand

Workplace health and safety regulator. Vehicle-related incidents at work fall under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, with PCBU duties and personal liability for officers.

IRD
Inland Revenue

FBT on company vehicles, mileage logs for cents-per-km rate, fuel-card audit. Fleet records form part of the IRD audit trail.

Pre-trip inspection (Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing) + COF

Operators of transport service vehicles must ensure pre-trip checks are carried out and documented. NZTA Auditors review the procedure during Operator Rating Audits — gaps in the documented chain push the rating worse. Mekavo seals each pre-trip with photos, geolocation, mileage and driver identity at the moment of submission.

OPERATOR RATING DOWNGRADE / LICENCE SUSPENSION

A pattern of CoF failures, roadside infringements or audit findings degrades your TORS rating. At rating 4 or 5, NZTA can require corrective action plans, suspend operations on specific vehicles, or revoke the Transport Service Licence. Insurance and finance availability narrow rapidly.

In WorkSafe and post-incident litigation, the standard demand is the pre-trip inspection record paired with the maintenance schedule. A book filled in after the fact does not satisfy the test. A SHA-256-sealed pre-trip with EXIF-bound photos and OTP-verified driver does — independently re-verifiable by NZTA without trusting the operator.
